Mindfulness is not complicated. Yet, there is an overwhelming amount of information on how to achieve it. In our fast-paced and goal-oriented society we could all use a bit more presence. But how do we get there?

The missing piece towards mindful living is a true sense of groundedness. Many of us need stronger roots in a world that pulls us into a million different directions. These strong roots come from working with our first chakra - both in awareness and physicality.

Our roots can be nurtured in many different ways. Whether it is as an individual, or within a group, these practices can include:

  • meditation

  • yoga

  • breathwork

  • self-inquiry

A wide range of breath and meditative techniques are available to us, and we can use these teachings in a very practical way to help us in our modern world.  

The first chakra is the foundation from which all other chakras (and areas of our lives) build upon. It represents our childhood, our security, and our physical presence in the world. Without strong roots, we can be forgetful, depressed, anxious, and feel powerless.
